Frequently Asked Questions
How do I appeal a parking fine in NSW?
All NSW parking fine appeals go through Revenue NSW, not the council that issued the fine. You can request a review online through the myPenalty portal at my.service.nsw.gov.au. You'll need your penalty notice number and the details of why you believe the fine should be withdrawn.
Can I get a caution instead of paying?
Yes — if you've held your NSW driver's licence for more than 10 years and haven't received a caution or had a fine withdrawn in the past 10 years, you may be eligible for an automatic caution. This applies to minor offences only (not No Stopping, disabled parking, or clearway fines).
What is the ticketless fine rule in NSW?
From July 1, 2025, parking officers must attach a notification to your vehicle when issuing a fine in most cases. If no notification was attached and no valid exemption applies, the fine may be invalid — especially if it was issued more than 7 days after the alleged offence.
How long does a NSW parking fine review take?
Revenue NSW doesn't publish a fixed timeframe, but reviews typically take 4-8 weeks. During the review, enforcement action is paused — you won't receive reminders or have your fine escalated while it's being assessed.
